Description
In this talk, we discuss the morphology formation within the active layer of organic solar cells. The active layer consists of regions of pure electron donor and acceptor and is formed during the drying of a thin film. This process is based on a spinodal decomposition of the donor and acceptor in a solvent, where the solvent is allowed to evaporate. The obtained model couples the phase separation process, hydrodynamic, and evaporative effects. We will present the derivation of a thermodynamically consistent model coupling these phenomena, and present numerical examples based on finite element simulations.
