Large-scale implementation of new technologies in zero-emission city buses on the European market

Description

Over the last 15 years, Europe has seen a very dynamic development and implementation of zero-emission city buses. The leading products here are battery buses - BEB, fuel cell buses - FCEB and modern trolleybuses equipped with high-capacity traction batteries. The development of energy storage systems, electric drive train systems and evolutionary adaptation of vehicles enable full operability of zero-emission city buses in everyday use. High technical reliability, efficiency and low noise levels affect the high level of acceptance by passengers, drivers and technical service. In 2024, approximately 60% of new city buses in Europe were zero-emission vehicles. For many years, Solaris has been introducing innovative BEB, FCEB and trolleybus to the market, successfully competing with the giants of the bus industry from Europe and China. The culmination of many years of consistent strategic actions aimed at the electrification of city buses is the prestigious European Bus of the Year 2025 award won by the Solaris E18 H2 bus equipped with a hydrogen fuel cell.
